Welcome to the first issue of my weekly newsletter!

My aim is to share:

Built This Week

The past week has been spent on building my new project!

I came across this site recently that helped people remove attachments from their emails while keeping their email content. I thought wow, that's a pretty cool project.

After having used it I thought I can building something better. An alternative that maybe has a better UI. Also I might just make it free. As long as I can afford the server costs.

So for the past week I have been building emailstoragesaver.com.

Building it was a pretty fun experience. The fact that it's live for others to use is nice.

The next step is to get the application verified by google. I have submitted a request and the details required. As part of this process I had to record a YouTube video of explaining what the product does and why I request the scopes for Gmail.

In the meantime, I plan on writing blog posts for the site to drive traffic to it.

Since the tool is free to use, I think driving traffic to it through SEO is the best course of action.

I will let you know how I get on with that next week!

Insights & resources

2 major things I discovered this week that have been life changing.

  1. Noah Kagan's YouTube channel
  2. How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett

Noah Kagan

I was already familiar with Noah Kagan because of his book Million Dollar Weekend. What I didn't know was that he also has a YouTube channel.

Once I discovered it I decided to watch one of his interview episodes that he has with successful people. Immediately I was hooked.

The reason is because I find listening to stories of successful people who DON'T have online personalities extremely motivating and useful.

It's like okay, so this is how a regular successful person got to where they are today. By regular I mean not having any online presence. Because you don't get to hear these stories usually.

My favourite interview has been the one where he asks people if he can see their private jet. Somehow this one person accepts his offer. Not only does he let him on, he also does an interview with him for an hour just sharing his story. Listening to that was a good experience.

How to Live on 24 Hours a Day

Every once in a while you come across a book that makes you think Damn, how am I only JUST discovering this.

That is exactly what happened to me for this book. Especially because it was published in 1908.

Aside from all the great advice that is given here, one of the things I really love about this book is the style of writing and the tone. Each sentence just feels beautifully written. When I was reading the first chapter, after each sentence I found myself thinking Damn, that's good.

Arnold really makes you realise how precious each hour, each minute, each second in your life really is. He describes the future time as this perfect gift that is ready for you. It doesn't matter how you spent your last hour or your last 24 hours. The next hour will always be available in its perfect form. And it's for you to decide how you spend it.

Just reading the beginning of the book will shift the way you look at time. Highly recommended.
