Welcome to the second issue of my weekly newsletter! The aim is to share what I've been up to in terms of building stuff, helping others and share any useful resources that I've been taking in.
Built This Week
If you read last week's issue you would know that I had built a tool to help people manage their Gmail storage.
This tool was available to everyone on emailstoragesaver.com and it was completely free. The next step was submitting it to google for verify my application.
However, I hit a blockade that is pretty tough to overcome. Because of this I'm having to abandon this project until further notice.
Google recently changed their verification process for applications that require sensitive scopes. In my case these scopes were for Gmail.
To have your application verified you have to go through a 6-8 week process that also costs ~£450. I don't want to spend that much time or money to have my application verified.
The idea was to build a free tool that people can use however they wish.
For now I'm going back to the drawing board and trying to pursue another project.
I will let you know next week if I come up with something.
Delivering a presentation
This week I also delivered a presentation for a meeting within my local community on how to use A.I to improve people's workflows. You can read the notes for it on my site. It's called Becoming Efficient with ChatGPT. Tips for Prompting and Keeping Authenticity
Giving this presentation was a blast. It makes me want to do more presentation work in the future. Also feels really good sharing information that people find helpful.
In a way it's just an extension of my goals of writing to help others and creating video episodes on YouTube.
Insights and Resources
Last week I shared that I had discovered a book called How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett.
This week has been spent going through that book. I'm still not finished. I read a bit and try to incorporate that into my life.
Although the book is about time management (or at least that's what you would think from the title), it has a ton of stuff that's useful outside of that domain too.
For example, the tips Arnold gives to practice concentrating on just one thing when you're doing stuff that isn't particularly interesting. E.g. going on a walk to the train station for your work.
Try to concentrate on one thought, don't let your mind wonder. If it does then immediately catch yourself and bring your mind back to what you want to focus on. It's actually a pretty hard exercise but very useful.
Final Thoughts
Thank you for reading this week's issue of Snapshot!
I hope you managed to get something useful out of this.
If you would like to share something with me I'm always available on Twitter or via email :)
