SPOILERS WARNING

Part 1 I'm going to try and write notes / thoughts on this book as I go through it. It will be very unstructured but at least this way I can write down stuff along the way and not forget what I liked and disliked.

Coming into Rhythm of War, I was a bit skeptical because I didn't enjoy the third book as much as the first two. Not to say it was bad or anything but I just didn't feel the heavy moments hit as hard as they did for previous stuff.

Happy to say though that I'm really enjoying this one so far. Halfway through part one and I'm heavily invested in everything.

Recently got through the part where Kaladin meets Moash and he pretty much tells him to end his life. It was absolutely insane. And going through the bit where Kaladin gets told not to go in any future battles by Dalinar. Kaladin comes to his place and absolutely breaks down but Syl brings Adolin so he can comfort Kal. That part felt so heavy. Kaladin's struggle with wanting to save every single person around him and the guilt he carries within himself all the time. Something about him going through his depression has just been so gripping. It's covered really well and I'm always waiting for his chapters more than anyone else.

Part 2 This is the first book in the series where I'm actually, like ACTUALLY interested in Shallan's quest. Previously she had moments of course where I was invested, like finding out who killer her Mother and Father but overall I wasn't that intrigued for some reason. I found her Spren Pattern much more interesting in her chapters.

This book though, I've been enjoying it so far. Who's the spy in Shallan's group? Her interactions with Mraize and their plans. I'm looking forward to what happens with all this.

I also think I'm enjoying Adolin's character a lot more here as well. His conversation with his Dalinar before they leave for shadesmar, his conversation with Kaladin and pretty much everything about him in this book so far has been enjoyable. I feel like we are learning a lot more about him than we ever did before.

Part 3

MAYA SPOKE MOMENT The Spren chose the radiants breaking their bonds. They thought they would hurt but didn't know they would become deadeyes. Wow what a moment.

Part 5 I accept that there will be those I cannot protect.
